Barbatimão is a tree from the Brazilian cerrado, with thick bark rich in tannins. The extract gives a firm cleanse, an astringent finish and a woody scent.
Stryphnodendron adstringens is one of the most cited plants in cerrado folk medicine. The species name comes precisely from the astringency of its bark.
